Construction Management

Construction Management

This course presents a survey of the functions of management, the principles governing the functions and their ability to apply them to construction management. An understanding of these factors and the ability to apply them to construction projects is essential to the engineer company commander and the members of the battalion staff. Also included in the subcourse are lessons on the use and application of the Critical Path Method (CPM) as it applies to military construction operations. What is taught about CPM should give you a good foundation for its use.

Engineer construction functions in the theater of operations (TO) are the design, construction, repair, rehabilitation and maintenance of structures. These structures are roads, bridges, inland waterways, ports, industrial facilities, logistic support facilities, storage and maintenance areas, protective emplacements, hospital, camps, training areas, housing, administrative space and utilities. Other functions are the design, construction, and rehabilitation of railroads, airfields and heliports.
