The ideas in this article are in relation to 12 ga. weapons.

Flechettes are simply small darts. You may find these darts can penetrate a bullet-proof vest at close range. The darts lose velocity very fast so this is mainly for close range work.

It's been reported that SWAT uses a special load in their shotguns to help gain entrance to a house.

To make an aerial shell load you will need a cardboard tube 1 1/4" long and with a 5/8" O.D.

The phosphorous will ignite spontaneously on contact with air or an oxidizer. For this reason it is usually stored under water. We personally cannot recommend this substance unless you have a great deal of experience handling phosphorous.

To keep the shot from spreading too quickly, open up the shell and empty out the shot.

Tracking, or "reading sign", is an ancient skill.

This comprehensive guide presents details on the art of tracking.

Details covered include, how to instructions, along with helpful hints and tips that will allow you to track animals, as well as people easily.

For example the author states, that while tracking look for spoor that is unlikely to be caused by nature and that tracking is easiest in soft, damp soil, in sand and heavy dust.

Try to track into the sun if possible...shadows will be cast into indentations on the ground and spoor should be carefully examined to determine 4 key signs, all of which are discussed in this book.

The direction of travel, as well as age of spoor, can be determined by a variety of factors, such as overturned leaves will have a darker underside and scuffed foliage and bark will display a lighter color.

Furthermore blood stains will be red when fresh, and then quickly oxidize and turn brown.
