Shooting Ranges

A shooting range is a specialized facility designed for firearms practice. Each facility is typically overseen by one or more supervisory personnel, called variously a range master in the United States or a range conducting officer or “RCO” in the UK. These supervisory personnel are responsible for ensuring that all gun safety rules are followed at all times at a shooting range.

These guides and handbooks lay out the comprehensive guidelines for operating a safe and beneficial shooting range. These guidlines can easily be adapted for civilian or militia training compounds.

Range Clearance Handbook

Range Clearance Handbook

Range clearance can be a hazardous task. Potential accidents can beavoided if all personnel are aware of safety requirements, know their job, and remain alert. It is impossible to describe detailed safety regulations that would cover all situations – the lie of the land, the state of the vegetation, swamps and other land features will make each clearance operation unique.

This publication provides guidance to all personnel concerned with the conduct and supervision of range clearance operations. Organization and procedures for clearance tasks are specified.
