Apartment
Workshop
DOES THE kitchen table serve as your workbench,
much to the annoyance of your wife? If so, this
article is especially for you. It shows how you
can have a workbench and tool chest all in one
within the confines of a compact trunklike box.
Supported by a folding detachable sawbuck stand,
both parts of this workshop can be stored in a
minimum of space. It's the perfect setup for the
man who resides in an apartment, or the owner
of a basementless house who likes to tinker, build
models or keep the household appliances in repair.
Everything is at hand when you want to "set
up shop" and, when you're through, tools
can be quickly packed away for another day. It's
as simple as that. |
Auto
Emergency Kit
VERY comprehensive and well detailed document
on the preparation of a car emergency kit. It
covers both first aid and vehicle repair kits
with recommendations for inclusions from recommended
to essential items. |
Basic
Survival Equipment
This list of equipment should be considered a
BASIC load and will continue to be improved as
finances permit. Ideally, your Bug Out Bag
is utilized to provide for your needs enroute
to your retreat site or if relocation is necessary
due to pursuit by an invading army or secret police.
Your personal equipment demands the best that
money can buy. In almost every case this is government
issue or contract overrun produced equipment.
Take advantage of the millions of dollars of R
& D the government has done and buy things
that will literally last decades if properly maintained. |
The
Book of Duck Decoys
In launching this Book about Decoys, I hope to
supply a want and afford information to those
who are interested in this special and peculiar
branch of Fowling. To the Naturalist and Wildfowler,
as well as to the Topographer and Antiquarian,
I chiefly appeal. But whether the title, one of
unknown import probably to nine out of ten people,
will attract the attention of Sportsmen at large
remains to be proved. My object, con amore, is
to place on record the method of constructing
Decoys, as well as the manner of taking Wildfowl
therein.I shall include also all obtainable data
and notes connected with the History of Decoys
past and present, before such are for ever lost.
With this object in view I have taken much trouble
in acquiring all possible information on this
sport-one rapidly being forgotten; and one that,
for amusement and instruction to all lovers of
wild birds, has no equal. That the history of
Decoys without some such effort as the present
would speedily have been lost, could not fail
to be the case, as the old Decoymen die off, and
Decoys annually cease to exist. No book of any
kind has yet been published on the subject, and
lest none should appear the present work has been
undertaken. |
Distance
Estimation
A specialist skill which can come in extremely
useful is accurate distance estimation. This document,
and the subsequent three titles will teach you
this art of distance estimation through various
means. |

provides practical information on how your family
can prepare for any disaster. It includes up-to-date
hazard specific safety tips and information about
preparedness and protection. In addition to information
on most natural and technological disasters, there
are new chapters on Animals in Disaster,
Extreme Heat (Heat Wave), Landslide
& Debris Flow (Mudslide), Emergency
Water Shortages, and newly updated information
on terrorism. |
FIRE
Guide
The COMPLETE guide to survival fire lighting.
No other guide ANYWHERE, can come close to including
the amount of information on the subject of fire
lighting. Many different methods detailed. A must
read for anyone! |
Food
Storage
This work is a compilation of answers to frequently
asked questions (FAQ) concerning long term food
storage. Its purpose is to promote an understanding
of the methods and techniques used to extend the
nutritive and palatability shelf lives of those
foods most suitable for use in food storage programs.
In this compendium you will be taken through the
ins and outs of how to put away your storage foods
and have a reasonable expectation of getting something
edible back out of the container when you finally
use them. Also covered will be food spoilage --
how to recognize it and how to combat it. A resource
list detailing where to find supplies and further
information is included at the end. |
Home
Blast Shelter
This family blast shelter can be placed in the
yard and will provide protection against thermal
effects, fallout radiation, and blast effects
from a nuclear weapon. It is designed to accommodate
six adults. This shelter will also provide excellent
protection against tornadoes. It has a protection
factor far greater than 40 which is the minimum
standard of protection from fallout radiation
established by the Federal Emergency Management
Agency for public shelters. It will withstand
blast overpressures of up to 15 pounds per square
inch (psi). If it is built as detailed, with the
top near ground level, an outdoor patio can be
constructed above the roof slab. The shelter is
accessible by a hatch-door and wood stairway.
Fresh air flow is provided by a hand-operated
centrifugal blower and two ventilating pipes that
extend above ground level. |
How
To Build a Still
The pages that follow contain a step by step
guide to building a relatively sophisticated still.
It is directed at anyone who may want to know
more about the subject, for hobbyists, tinkers,
pure water enthusiasts, survivors, and perhaps
amateur wine and beer makers. The still involved
in the chapters that follow is a unique distillation
apparatus. At the time of this writing, there
is only one like it. Designing and building this
apparatus is the only subject of this manual and
you will find that it confines itself to those
areas. It does not enter into the domains of fermentation,
recipes for making mash, beer, wine or any other
spirits. These areas are covered in detail in
other readily available books and numerous web
sites. |
How
Not To Survive
The importance of mental preparedness cannot be overemphasized in planning
for survival. When I think back on my days of
training at the SF Q-Course and during Ranger
Training, among the things that I remember most
is the instructors constantly telling us that
our greatest weapon is our mind!! After two years
of combat, I can testify to the truth of this.
In this report, we will discuss the following:
1. Motivation
2. Mental Confusion
3. Procrastination
4. Attitude Improvement
5. Guilt Feelings |
Hunting,
Firearms, Trapping and Fishing
Mostly legal and political points on the above
subjects. Very interesting information and quite
a few lesser known facts included. |
Knots
and Splices
An incredable amount of useful information on
the subjects knots, hitches, splices, fancy work,
block and tackle, and wire rope. Starting out
with a description of the construction and care
of rope, ... there are tables of the breaking
strenths and weights of various ropes, definitions
of the names applied by sailors to different types
of lines and advice on care and handling. |
The
Art of Orienteering
Orienteering is actually something
we do every day. In the most general sense, it
refers to the act of getting somewhere by utilizing
all possible signposts -- whether natural or man-made.
In the more specific sense, orienteering refers
only to the art of using a map and compass.
This guide, "The Art of Orienteering",
teaches the reader various navigation techniques
using the sun, the stars and maps and compasses. |
Outdoor
Distance Estimation
Another good document on the art of outdoor distance
estimation. |

guidance combined with specific measures useful

Special
Forces Caching Techniques
Caching is the process of hiding equipment or
materials in a secure storage place with the view
to future recovery for operational use. The ultimate
success of caching may well depend upon attention
to detail, that is, professional competence that
may seem of minor importance to the untrained
eye. Security factors, such as cover for the caching
party, sterility of the items cached, and removal
of even the slightest trace of the caching operations
are vital. Highly important, too, are the technical
factors that govern the preservation of the items
in usable condition and the recording of data
essential for recovery. Successful caching entails
careful adherence to the basic principles of clandestine
operations, as well as familiarity with the technicalities
of caching. |
